Ghana:Facts you should know about the National Mosque.

Last month, the president of Ghana,His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo commissioned a multipurpose National mosque after 8years since groundbreaking. This beautiful mosque sits in the heart of Accra on the Nima high way. Here are some facts you should know about the mosque.

Capacity- the National mosque has a carrying capacity of about 15000. What do you expect of a National mosque sitting on a 40acre land?? It is a capacity 13400 more than the International conference Centre but 35000 less comparing it to the Accra Sports Stadium

Multipurpose use- the mosque has been sophisticated for purposes. It serves residential purposes for the Chief Imam. Educational purposes for Senior high school students of the muslim Communities and as well has a library complex for research. It has a health clinic , an auditorium, an administration and a conference hall.

The Ghana National mosque is the second largest mosque in West Africa. It only comes second to the Massalikoul Jinaan (Path to Heaven) Mosque in Senegal which has a capacity of 30000 people.

The National mosque is a replica of the historical ,Sultan Ahmed mosque also called the blue mosque in Instabul,Turkey that was built in the Ottoman era between 1609 to 1616
