Ghana is a country made up of people from different ethnic groups who have different place of origin and dates of settlement in this territory now known as Ghana. These people have a lot of differences between them all ranging from food, clothings, culture, religion etc.
Before the advent of the Europeans, all these ethnic groups were idol worshipers and worshiped the supreme being through these idols. All had and still have their Religious beliefs and abided by these beliefs. But when the Europeans and Arabs came to this country, they also brought along their religions and one way or the other imposed them on us stating that ours were inferior to theirs.
We have now ignored our heritage and are following theirs(Islam and Christianity). Christianity happens to be the religion with the biggest followers in Ghana and have the “Holy Bible” as their “constitution”. However, there is something i came across in the Bible that is making me wonder if truly women are seen as disgrace in the house of “god”.
In the first book of Corinthians Chapter 15 vrs 34 to 35, the Bible issued all women to shut their mouths up when in church. It says and I quote “As in all the churches of God’s people, the women should keep quiet in the meetings. They should not speak as the Jewish law says, they must not be in charge. 35) If they want to know about something, they should ask their husbands at home. It is a disgraceful thing for a woman to speak in Church”.What captivated me was the part that said women should not be put in charge. Women nowadays are even seen to be the heads of some churches and no one sees anything wrong with it. Yet the Bible they are using says they should not even speak in church.
Do Christians read their book at all? If yes then why do they not speak against this? Women have most noise in Church and all of you will attest to that so what’s up?
