Happy Birthday to the National Chief Imam of the Republic of Ghana, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu is a Ghanaian Islamic cleric who is serving currently as the Chief Imam of Ghana, as well as a member of the National Peace Council.
Sheikh was born on 23rd April 1919 making him 102 years today. Allah has indeed blessed him.
Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu parents were Nuhu Sharubutu and Hajja Ayishatu Abbass at Accra cow-lane in April 1919.
Sheikh commenced his education at home with his father during the day and with his mother at night. Due to Osman devotion and love for books and knowledge, he was sent to a new environment by his father for him to test other waters.
After learning in Kumasi, he thought it wise to teach the Muslim youth who wanted to become Islamic thinkers and scholars.
He was first appointed as the Deputy Regional Chief Imam in 1974 after a lengthy discussions among tribal chiefs, academics, Islamic scholars, and religious personalities.
During this period he deputized his cousin, Sheikh Imam Muhammed Mukhtar Abbas, who succeeded his father.
He is also founder of the Dr. Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu Education Trust Fund (The SONSETFund) and the Islamic Peace and Security Council of Ghana (IPASEC).
