Okudzato Ablakwa ; Slow Down On The Speed With Which You Want To Build The Cathedral To - Gov’t

Following the speed with which the Akuffo Addo led government wants to complete the National Cathedral as scheduled by the end of 2024.

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Hon. Samuel Okudzato Ablakwa has asked the president, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo to slow down as the cost involved will drain the nation drastically.

For Mr. Ablakwa’s view, with the current happenings in the country, thus, cost of living increasing day and night, government should as a matter of urgency slow their pace with the construction of the Cathedral.

The Mp made this submissions on “Newsfile”, a political news analysis programme on JoyNews.

He asserted, “the opacity that has shrouded the activities of the government in relation to the construction cost and details has rendered the project unpopular even among the Christian community that the project is said to target.” He mentioned.

He continued, ““Look, if after what you’ve told the courts, what you’ve told the venerable clergy, you realize that probably you’re having difficulty with fundraising – what I have picked up talking to people associated with this project is that the fundraising has not been very good.

“What you’ll do as the Christian Council is now demand and be transparent with the Ghanaian people, with Parliament, with all of us and say that ‘look, fundraising has not been very good.”

Further, the Mp retorted that nations with similar edifice didn’t take one day to put up those buildings so government should not be in the hurry.
