Bishop Dag Heward Mills is a well renowned man of God. As an evangelist, his mammoth crusades on salvation has literally been to every country on the African continent.
As a rare church planter also, his small church that he started at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital campus, when he was just a medical student and appealing to the student nurses who stayed in a hostel nearby has also grown into the United Denomination Group of Churches Emanating from the Lighthouse Church with over 12 individual denominations and currently in over 100 countries with a total of over 4,000 individual branches.
In 2016, he started what he called the Good Friday Miracle Service, which was for only members of his church within the Greater Accra Region to attend at the Independence Square and with over 700,000 in attendance. The event which was held at the Independence Square in Accra began with intense worship, vibrant praise and fervent prayer.
Thousands of people from the numerous branches attended this service and as early as 10 a.m., hundreds of buses had dropped thousands of people at the square, awaiting the programme, which began at 3 p.m. The crowd was treated to a song ministration from a mass choir and dancing by the various branches that had come together to form dancing stars made up of 5,000 people.
Using parallels from the Bible character Joseph, the Presiding Bishop led the mammoth gathering to pray for Ghana, our leaders, the government, the church and for favour in each person’s life. The congregants prayed for the mercy of God, to have missions, to build churches and bring salvation to many in the country. The Evangelist prayed that the country will be free from road carnage. The 10,000-member mass choir added a lot of excitement to the service. Evangelist Dag Heward-Mills, shared a simple sermon titled, “The Story of the Cross of Jesus” which stressed on the sufferings of Jesus Christ and how His death is the greatest value for every believer. He expounded on how Christians must be thankful and show the utmost appreciation to Jesus Christ for dying on the cross for our sins.
The next edition was graced by then President Mahama in 2016 Good Friday Miracle Service organized by Lighthouse Chapel International and also held at the Independence Square and according to sources, the church members knew they would have guests from the flagstaff house but didn’t know it would be the president himself. Also present was Archbishop Duncan Williams.
“Wow. What a day?! We thank God for yet another wonderful and historic Good Friday Miracle Service today in Accra, Ghana. What a blessing! Today, thousands of members from the Lighthouse Chapel International denomination in the Accra and Tema metropolis gathered at the Independence Square of Ghana to experience and enjoy this year’s miracle service. The Lord was with us.
It has since been held annually to commemorate Easter Celebrations, but it however couldn't happen last year, due to the Covid-19 restrictions and according to fliers sighted online, it is coming on this year and the venue is one exclusively beautiful venue. It is a plain grounds outdoor, with seating capacities running into thousands, at the church's mega The Anagkazo Bible & Ministry Training Centre (ABMTC) at Mampong, specifically at the "Jesus Saviour of the World Square."
PICS FROM A RECENT SERVICE SERVICE HELD THERE.
The Venue is a huge vast of plain land, and also boast of its own train, that can transports thousands in minutes to the venue, all on the same huge campus of their seminary. An invite online states that “Join us on the 2nd of April for our Good Friday Church Service with Dag Heward-Mills for a time of healing and miracles. Come and experience God for yourself and your life will never be the same,”
“It is that time of year again where we remember the sacrifice of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Good Friday is not just a day we as Christians must take lightly. It is the day that Jesus gave His life for us and a day we must be appreciative of His sacrifice. Where would you and I be today if the Lord had not laid down His life for us? That is why we can never offer Him anything less than our lives. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).”
