Peace FM Newpresenter, Kwame Amo is wanted by the Ghana Police for being complicit in a crime committed by some junior pastors of Rev. Owusu Bempah against officers of the police service. Kwame Amo together with three other pastors of the renowned prophet is to be prosecuted alongside Bright Berchie who was arrested last week for threatening harm and brandishing unauthorized arms.
Reporting from the court today, Angel FM’s Ama Brako Ampofo disclosed that Kwame Amo was named by the state prosecutor as being wanted for arrest in the ongoing investigation. The three other junior pastors of Rev. Owusu Bempah are yet to be named but the reporter says Mr. Kwame Amo is being accused of aiding and abetting the crime.
According to Ama Brako Ampofo, two separate courts are hearing the cases; one that has been designated solely for Rev. Owusu Bempah in respect of his threats on Nana Agradaa; and another for his junior pastors who threatened harm on Police officers and the public. This development had caused so much frustration for the lawyer of the accused persons [Rev. Owusu Bempah and his junior pastors], Lawyer Gary Nimako.
The Angel News reporter disclosed that the lawyer is contemplating petitioning the Attorney-General’s office over this matter. She explained that Lawyer Gary Nimako does not agree to have two separate courts deal with the same matter.
Currently, per her report, the court had awarded a hundred thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC100,000.00) bail plus two sureties for Bright Berchie. It is not certain the extent to which the Police seek to take this matter but the state prosecutor reminded Rev. Owusu Bempah just after today’s case management that his junior pastors would have to avail themselves before the law for the crimes committed against the police.
Given the development, it would be expected that the police would secure a warrant to arrest Kwame Amo and the three other accused junior pastors for prosecution.
