Prophets in Politics: John Mahama and Opambour or Rev. Owusu Bempah and Nana Addo.

In Ghana, it is clear the self-acclaimed prophets have their political affiliations and interests. Some deliberately engineer good fortune prophecies to suit their preferred candidates. Doing so draws the attention of believers to the prophecy and they plan to make it a reality because God has approved. This is a psychological game and the Ghanaian politicians gave seen the trick. Thus, they employ prophets in their campaign exercise.

Since the arrest of Rev. Owusu Bempah, Nigel Giaise has expressed his disappointment in the incumbent party- NPP. He lamented why his fellow colleague man of God should suffer in jail when his party is in power. As we all may know, Rev. Owusu Bempah is a staunch NPP man and prophet. It is even alleged that he recommended that the President take his chair with him to interview he goes. He shouldn’t use their chairs- spiritual reasons, I guess. He has also said many favourable prophecies and organized his church members to vote for the president.

All this made prophet Nigel disappointed in the President. He also added that the former President would never do that to him. Because he knows the kind of work he does for the NDC party as a prophet. This is very interesting. Today, former President John Dramani Mahama visited the self-acclaimed Nation’s Prophet Ebenezer Darkwa Yiadom, best known as Opambour. Opambour has a huge influence in this church business and he is alleged to be the most consistent and longest-serving prophet in Ghana. He started his ministry with “Abura mu nsuo” miracles and rose to this level. Funny enough, many youths in Ghana uses his strong sense of humour to spread their word. People love him.

As the former President has visited him, it is obvious they will discuss business which has to do with politics. Because the former President could have visited the nearest church close to Kumasi Airport but he chose Opambour. This shows the degree of reverence he has for the man of God. Therefore, having Opambour join his team, would that fuel victory for the “Do or Die” former President John Mahama or Rev. Owusu Bempah will return from jail and cruise the NPP to victory?

Indeed, it is an interesting adventure. Meddling politics with religion. I mean, how church members would feel if they have strong ties with one political party and the leader and founder of the church also supporting and preaching for another political party will be weird.

But what do you make of the matter?
