Is it an obligatory for every Muslim to embark on the Hajj Pilgrimage

Every year millions of Muslims go to Hajj in Mecca to under take the epic Hajj pilgrimage.

Some wonder what exactly is the Hajj and why do Muslims embark on this journey every year.

The gathering of millions of faithful in Makkah during the days of annual pilgrimage, Hajj is a fulfillment of Prophet Abram's prayer.

The pilgrimage to Mecca is a sign of supreme significance. It was unconditional commitment that Prophet Abraham gave to God by leaving his wife Hagar amd son Ishmael in the desolated dessert. By so doing he was rewarded by his unwavering submission to God.

Muslims who visits Makkah for Hajj become part of God's promise to Prophet Abraham.

The overall journey is said to be a purifying process by which Muslims becomes closer to God through patience, perseverance, submission and servitude.

Hajj is a long - awaited opportunity for many Muslims to obtain forgiveness for their lifelong sins and to return back to their homes with a cleansed heart.

Prophet Muhammad once said:

"The one who performs Hajj properly by abstaining from sexual intimacy, avoiding sin and leaving off argumentation ; then he shall return from Hajj pure and free from sin, just as tge day his mother gave birth to him"

Which he also informed Muslims that:

"The reward for an accepted Hajj is nothing less than Paradise."
