The Sweetness Of The Word

Matthew 12:8 "But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

THE GOOD HEART - (Delight in His Word)

David testified of the sweetness of the Word of God to him. He compared the Word of God to honey and concluded that the Word was sweeter than the honey.

Psalm 119:103 " How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth!"

This is his testimony about the Word. What is your personal testimony about the Word of God? Is the Word sweeter to you than your favourite meal? Do you have a delight for the Word? Do you desire to hear God's Word often?

The men with the Good Heart have an ardent desire and delight for the Word of God.

Job also testifies to how the Word of God was a treasure to him.

Job 23:12 "I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth More than my necessary food."

From their testimony we can learn that the greatest thing to delight in is the Word of God. As it is written "Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; BUT HIS DELIGHT IS IN THE LAW OF THE LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper." ( Psalm 1:1-3)

The result of delighting in His Word is clearly stated here - fruitfulness and prosperity.

To delight in the Word means to enjoy and to take pleasure in the Word. It also means to be happy, excited and enthusiastic about the Word.
