Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell, Parish Priest of Christ the King Catholic Church in Accra, has urged Ghanaians not to hate homosexuals because they are God's creations.

God, he claims, does not despise homosexuals, despite the fact that what they do offends him. He went on to say that homosexuals should be prayed for rather than condemned.

In an interview with Johnnie Hughes on TV3, Father Campbell addressed the LGBTQ situation in Ghana, saying that everyone was created in the image of God, whether homosexuals or not. As a result, they should not be hated. He went on to say that he was not in a position to condemn people based on their preferred gender orientation, but that all he could do was encourage everyone to love one another.

"So, according to Paul, each of us is a work of art. Psalm 8 declares that God created us in his image and likeness.

"No matter who you are, you are a child of God since we were all created in the image and likeness of God.

“Everywhere I've gone, I've offered everyone hope, regardless of who you are, whether you're a prostitute or a prisoner. I didn't denounce condemned cells, those in firing squads, I didn't condemn those young girls at Cantonment, I didn't say you were filthy. I never pass judgment on anyone; I am not there to pass judgment; I am there to assist and support you.

"Like those young ladies who came to church, they told me that they donate gifts to the poor every Christmas, that they go to the Osu Children's Home and other places and give gifts, that this is from the prostitute and they go to church." Who am I to pass judgment on them? I prayed with them in an attempt to get them off the streets. Likewise, I will not criticize our lovely brothers and sisters who have been sentenced. It's not right what they're doing.

"Love the sinner, but detest the sin," Christ stated. That is exactly what I do. I have time for everyone, regardless of who they are, and I pray with and encourage them. You are a child of God, and God loves you."
