A/R: A Pentecost Elder And An Evangelist Have Beaten And Injured For Preaching

A popular fetish priestess in Dabaa in the Ashanti region known as Komfo Asantewaa together with her husband and son has beaten up and incurred injuries on an Evangelist and an Elder. Yesterday in the evening, Evangelist Jeremiah Okyere with four of his followers mounted a stage in the town to preach. Dabaa is a small town so any noise made, can be heard in almost every area of the town.

Okomfo Asantewaa happens to live around where the Evangelist was preaching. The message the Evangelist delivered was that the world is not for anyone but God. Therefore it is foolishness to serve lesser gods as stated in the Bible. As he was preaching the husband and son of Okomfo Asantewaa came to warn the Evangelist to stop his preaching.

The Evangelist tried to retaliate and the fetish priestess's husband and son beat the Evangelist and his followers up and scattered the equipment they were using for their service. The Evangelist reported the case to the Police in Akropong and went to a hospital in Dabaa for treatment today.

Just this dawn, an Elder of the Church of Pentecost, Elder Opoku Acheampong went to preach this same message at an information centre near the house of the fetish priestess in the town. The husband and son of the fetish priestess went again to the information centre and beat the Elder up.

The son of Elder Opoku Acheampong after hearing what had been done to his father went to the house of the fetish priestess to warn her. They told him that they can equally preach against Christianity therefore they have no right to preach against what they have chosen to worship.

There was a heated argument and the husband of Okomfo Asantewaa used a cutlass to hit the Elder's son's hand and head. He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Policemen from Abuakwa came to the fetish priestess and her family.
