The National Chief Imam has received words of blessing from Ghanaians for his contribution towards the National Cathedral which the Government is looking forward to build for the State. Prior to the 2020 election, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo made a revelation that he and his Government are going to erect a National Cathedral for Christians in the country. The construction of the edifice have not seen any progress since the president made the statement.
It was later revealed by the Finance Minister that the construction of the edifice needs financial support from Ghanaians. In the 2021 mid-year budget review, Ken Ofori-Atta noted that the government will be grateful if Ghanaians donate GH¢100 every month to aid the construction of the National Cathedral. Some citizens showed concerns and have started donating whiles others too have decided not to donate due to their low income and some reasons.
The Chief Imam has donated an amount of GH¢50,000 to support the construction of the edifice. Ghanaians on social media platforms have been praising him for his kindness towards Christians. "Even though he is not a Christian, he has showed he cares for the growth of Ghana, may Allah bless him". A commentator shared. Some too have urged Ghanaians to maintain the good relationship between Muslims and Christians in the country.
