You Can Run But Can’t Hide: More Troubles For Eid Ul Adha Gun Brandishing Gang At Aboabo

They woke up on the morning of Tuesday, July 20, 2021, to celebrate one of the biggest festivals on the calendar of the Islamic religion, Eid Ul-Adha. It was a beautiful morning for Muslims at Asokore Mampong in the Ashanti Region of Ghana after they had prepared to make the day a memorable one. But the entire scene turned violent.

A celebration that was intended to be a happy one for every Muslim has brought sorrows in the home of a family. Tears are now flowing in the eyes of people who never anticipated a sad day. The Muslim community had made all their plans to ensure they celebrate one of the best Eid Ul-Adha this year.

Most of them had gotten their animal sacrifices ready for a good meal after the early morning church service. However, the entire Eid Ul-Adha celebration which was intended to be peaceful turned bloody along the way. Some young men brandishing guns from nowhere stormed the area and started firing gunshots.

It is unknown who they were targeting but a stray bullet hit a young boy believed to be sixteen years in the process and the report alleges that he could not survive the pain. The situation marred the entire Eid Ul-Adha festival at Aboabo Number Two in the same area when the youth charged to find the gang that carried out the raid.

Unfortunately, the young men are nowhere to be found. But there is a saying that “you can run but you cannot hide”. The Police Command in the area has decided not to rest until the gun brandishing gang is found. They have stormed the community in their numbers and have been mounting serious searches to fish out the criminals. The District Chief Executive of the area, Alhaji Alidu Seidu has promised to ensure the killers are arrested.

Scenes from the community after the incident

They are being supported by the youth in the area to ensure calm is restored but the promise is that the gang will be found in no time. Armed Police officers could be seen patrolling the community and possible hideouts of the criminals to bring them to book. For now, the gunmen might think they are free and comfortable wherever they are hiding but trust the police to arrest them in no time. Residents in the area are also being encouraged to help the police with information for the killers to be arrested as early as possible.
