The word authority is birthed from the word author.it is the author that gives authority to the work he or she produces. Hence it is clear for us to se who the author of the Bible is. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, all scripture is given by inspiration of God and it is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
It is no secret the Bible is the word of God, it is the pathway for every believer to be complete and thoroughly equipped for every good work. We see that the holy spirit is the author of the scripture therefore we know the authority of the scripture is God. Hence for you to read and understand the bible, you need the holy spirit. Because it is a spiritual book and cannot be read like any other book.
It is the holy spirit that helps us to understand the spiritual things of God that's why two people can read the bible and have two completely different experiences.
Now let's look at four different striking bible verses that changes life.
1. Galatians 6:7
Be not deceived; God is not mocked:for whatever a man soweth that shall he also reap.
It is quite common to see a lot of Christians faking life to be children of God but are someone else. Some are soo good in disguising themselves that they've been able to deceive everyone around them into believing they are children of God but are wolves in sheep's clothing. God is telling such people that He knows them and He knows the quality of their service to Him. It is easy to deceive people and get all the praises and applause but God searches every heart and give unto every man and woman according to what he or she has planted. You can pull the wool over my eyes, you can make me believe that you are super saint but you can't deceive God. God is always watching.
You cannot be constantly angry and rude to people and expect to live a peaceful life, if you sow anger you cannot reap peace. You cannot show hate in the life of other people and expect to reap happiness, as the saying goes, we are today what we did yesterday and we are tomorrow what we did today. If you are unkind, you can expect unkindness to come towards you. If you are merciful you can expect others to be merciful to you. You cannot plant maize and expect to harvest cassava. It doesn't work like that in the physical realm neither does it in the spiritual realm.
2. Hebrews 9:27
Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgement.
Whatever we seem now isn't going to be forever. God has appointed it unto us to live once. This verse reminds us our days are numbered in the world, which is why we should daily keep tab of the way we live our lives. Because this same verse also highlights of what is to come after death. Just as the psalmist said: oh Lord teach us to number our days that we may apply our heart to wisdom. We have our current life to live after which there is judgement. However the outcome of our eternity is going to be determined by the way we live our lives on this earth. Thus whether we choose to neglect the things of God, take them with light heartedness or decide to live as if we owns our lives ourselves. Whatever we do on this earth will be accounted unto us as righteousness or condemnation. That's why we have to be more intentional about the way we live our lives. Live with the consciousness of heaven in mind for this will put restraint on whatever we do.
3. Hebrews 12:29
God is a consuming fire
whenever this sentence is made people paint the picture of a no nonsense God who deals with his subjects with such high handedness. This is erroneous. God is a loving God, He is called father for a reason, for he loves us and wants us to be just like him. He is a Holy God and wants His children to be holy just as he is. Since He is Holy, However, because he is holy and pure God we must serve him in reverence and fear. He is a loving God but he is also a consuming God.
4. Revelation 21:3
And I hear a loud voice from Heaven saying, " Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God himself will be with them and be their God.
Imagine a place where God's spirit descends amongst humans and abides with them, a place where there are no worries, where one need not wonder about what to eat or what to become. John saw a heavenly city descending onto the new earth, he said there will be a new Jerusalem coming down from heaven as a bride adorned for her husband. This city is the dwelling place of God. God will be with us we will learn of Him, love Him, worship Him and serve Him.
May the spirit of God guide us through. Amen
