The need to know God's will.

Scripture reference: Proverbs 3:1-6. Romans 12:1-2.

In Proverbs chapter 3:1, God admonishes us to keep His teachings in our hearts.

Heart here represents the mind, the soul and the passion in us. The question is why should we keep the teachings of God in our hearts?.

In Mark 7:14-20, Jesus talks about what defiles a man. He said what goes into the body does not cause harm to us but rather what comes out of us defiles us. If we keep God's teachings in our hearts, it bears fruit which serves as food for feeding people in order to bring them to Christ. Because we have filled our hearts with the word of God, we begin to speak the word of God anytime we open our mouths to talk. This helps us from defiling our bodies, because our bodies are the temple of the Lord.

Let's now consider the verse 2 of Proverbs chapter 3. The verse 2 talks about the good things such as peace, prosperity, joy, long life, and many more, which the teachings we keep in our hearts can bear for us.

Keeping wordly things, especially wordly songs in our hearts will lead to bad and sinful outcomes. In this world, there are only two things of which we are suppose to choose one, which we think we must keep in our hearts. Some people decide to keep wordly songs in their hearts and filling their minds with them. Note that when there is abundance of something in your heart, it eventually comes out of your mouth. So they begin to sing those songs even when they find themselves in the presence of God. But the Bible makes us understand that, the only thing that when kept in our hearts will bring forth good things is the word of God.

In order to know the will of God, we must have love. The Bible makes us understand that God is Love. So if we claim we have God then we must have love. Take Note, show love to everyone not only those you know but also those you don't know and even your enemies as well.

Faithfulness is another factor. Faithfulness is being truthful always. We must be truthful to the teachings of God. This can be achieved by obeying the word of God and going according to His will.

If your heart yields good things because of the word of God in you, then you are assured of favor and a good name in the sight of both God and man.

In order to know the will of God, we must flee from the patterns of this world. The patterns of this world will lead us to destruction. So we must flee from this world's pattern and conform to the patterns of the kingdom.

Thank you for reading and may the God Lord bless you beyond measure in Jesus name amen.
