Nicolas Anelka Explains Why He Converted to Islam, And Reveals His New Name

In an interview with Al Arabiya news, Nicolas Anelka former Chelsea talisman revealed the reason he had converted from Christianity to Islam.

"What made me convert was that i was sure that Islam was for me. I felt this relationship with God and it brightened my life, i had this conviction in my heart that it was my religion.

“Beyond the fraternal aspect, my conversion has not changed my life. I already lived by the same principles to be righteous and to have values. I used to fast during Ramadan because i admired the people who fasted around me.

Upon his conversion to Islam in the United Arab Emirates, Anelka took the name "Abdul-Salam Bilal". He has achieved most of his success at Chelsea for whom Anelka has scored 59 goals and recorded 34 assists in 184 appearances.

The Frenchman has enjoyed a prolific career in football, playing for teams like Real Madrid, PSG and Arsenal during his career.
