The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has asserted that the national secretariat of the cathedral should get ready to issue more press statements.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, 22nd June 2022, he wrote that the National Cathedral Secretariat should get ready to issue more press statements, even though in all honesty, their statements expose more rot and deepens their woes.
He revealed that instruments of incorporation in his possession confirm that Ribade Company Limited, the contractors executing President Akufo-Addo’s cathedral project were incorporated as recently as 21st December, 2020.
"Meanwhile, evidence available points to the fact that Ribade Company Limited had long been engaged to construct the Cathedral before 21st December, 2020.
At the second sod cutting by President Akufo-Addo on 5th March, 2020 — the Executive Director, Dr. Paul Opoku-Mensah told the media all was set for construction to begin in April, 2020." He said.
Okudzeto showed evidence that subsequently, following some delays, construction resumed in October, 2020.
"In its June 17, 2022 statement, the National Cathedral Secretariat stated at paragraph 10 that they signed an LOI with the contractors before they received the first tranche of seed money (GHS142.7million) which Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta unconstitutionally instructed the Controller to release on 29th October, 2020."
Why did the government and the national cathedral secretariat engage and release public funds to a company that wasn’t incorporated? He quizzed.
