Dr. Bawumia Celebrates National Maulid With National Chief Imam And Muslims

The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia joined the National Chief Imam and the Muslim Ummah in Accra for the 2021 National Maulid, which is the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. on the night of 13th November 2021.

At the occasion, Dr. Bawumia reminded the congregation gathered about the essence of the occasion, and the need for all to continue to embrace tolerance and cooperation with members of other religious divide.

According to him, tolerating each other's view on religion will maintain the peace Ghana as a country has been enjoying.

Speaking at the celebration of Prophet Mohamed's birthday, the Vice President also shared with the congregation President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's massive investment in the development of Zongo and other deprived communities. 

According to him, through the Zongo Development Fund and other development authorities , President Akufo-Addo has made investment on Zongo development in the areas of education, infrastructure, vocational training, entrepreneurial support. He also highlighted the positive impact the above investments are having on communities and the people.

Maulid or celebrating the birthday of Prophet Muhammed (SAW) is an annual program or event that is being observed by Muslims largely adherents of Sufi Orders around the World.

This year’s program Maulid, as usual attracted the leading politicians in Ghana, civil society organizations and youth leaders of diverse background to deliberate over contemporary issues within the Muslim community in Ghana.

Almost all the Arab-Muslim dominated countries around the World observe the practice in many colorful ways although a common platform of convergence is the practice of recitation of the Holy Quran, lecture series to imbibe the teachings and practical application of the Prophet’s lifestyle as a guide for the living and above all the cooking and distribution of food which has largely characterized the anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
