Sometimes we have to use our senses of good reasoning and logical thinking in other to interpret some verses in the Bible without being driven by faith, ideology and denominational affiliation.
One verse speaks about we practicing good deeds by giving alms or helping the poor in public so that people may see our kind behavior and give glory to our father in heaven.
The other one also speaks about the fact that whenever we’re to give alms or help the poor we should do so in secrecy and not allow any other person other than you the giver and the receiver so that God in heaven who has seen your kind act shall bless you.
Mathew Matthew 5:16 says that Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Contradictorily, Matthew 6:3 to 4also says But when thou doest alms let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth. That thine alms may be in secret and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
These two verses in the Bible give different statements of the right way to give to the poor and as to which verse may be right we will have to urge on the biblically strong scholars on here to assist us in explaining them.
Logically, giving alms in the open may be a way for people to show off their wealth rather than actually wanting to give to the poor.
In some cases people donate to the poor in the open for others to see their kind acts and emulate their kind gestures and to be able to have witnesses in case their donations tend to be harmful.
