COP George Dampare An Elder Of This Church, Check Out Reactions From Church Members

Some Ghanaians believe that the religious life of a person plays a major role in terms of ensuring honesty and transparency at work. This is because the moral teachings on religious doctrine frown on corruption and bad behaviour. As for Christianity, the Holy Scriptures talks about punishment for wrongdoers and judgement for everything a person does on earth. 2 Corinthians 5:10 reads "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad".

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed COP George Akuffo Dampare as acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) who is set to officially take over from the incumbent IGP, Mr James Oppong Boanuh on 1st August 2021.

According to a Facebook Christian page known as Asaph Diary, the outgoing IGP, Mr James Oppong-Boanuh was an Elder of the Church of Pentecost (COP) so the incoming IGP, Mr George Akuffo Dampare. Most members of the Church of Pentecost after coming across this information said that Mr Dampare will exhibit the Possing Nation Agenda of the church and eradicate all forms of corruption in the Police Service.

COP Dr Dampare has been in the Ghana Police Service for over 30 years. He joined the service as a Constable and has risen through the ranks to the high rank of Commissioner of Police. He is considered by many in and out of the police as the Second in Command of the Service.

He has served in many leadership capacities in the Police Service, including Director General (Finance), Director General (Welfare), Director General (ICT), Commandant of the Police Command and Staff College, Accra Regional Police Commander and Director General (Operations).

Currently holding a PhD in Finance, COP Dampare, became a chartered accountant at the age of 25 while serving as a Police Constable. Some Ghanaians believe that with his Church background, he would be able to bring honesty to the Police Service.
