The LoveWorld Incorporated which is also known as Christ Embassy leader, Pastor Dr. Chris Oyakhilome has posited what in his view makes one a mischief maker among a congregstion.
He stated that, if anyone says "I don't agree with everything that is done in the church even though I'm a member of the church, then, something is wrong with you. You ought to agree".
Dr. Oyakhilome added that, if there is something which the church does that someone doesn't agree, that person needs to go the next person above him and have a discussion in order to clear any doubts lingering in their minds.
Pastor Chris continued, if that leader doesn't understand it, then the two of you would have to go to the next leader for explanation. "But, if after we've discussed it, you still hold on unto your opinion, then you're a mischief maker" he affirmed.
He added, to say that you don't agree with everything that is being said "That means you're divisive and God is telling us to beware of you" he clarified.
Explaining further, Chris Oyakhilome said there are people who love divisions and are never happy when the see unity among people. He continued that, the Bible tells us that "The power of a people is their unity".
Supporting his position with the Bible, he referenced Genesis 11:6 "And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do."
Explaining the above, he said it depicts a people who speak the same language and have a common leader and that makes it impossible to stop them. But, was quick to add that, "There are those who love divisions and are always happy when they see deviants. Jesus said it sufficient that a disciple should always look like his master."
Continuing he said that, believers need to have spiritual wisdom because there are others who are just interested in inflicting believers with worldly wisdom." They seem to be smart. They talk to us and they seem to be right" he stated.
But, added anyone found in such a situation should be smart and also judge what they have heard with the spirit of God and weighing it against the knowledge of the word of God.
It is against this, that the Bible admonishes believers to esteem their leaders highly. According to him, esteeming your leaders highly not because they are God but because God has emphasised that, there is the need for leaders to be esteemed highly.
He added if leaders are esteemed highly then one is happy for doing what they are asked to do and "If I don't, then I walk in the dark. Someone whose life is not straight is making me to be like him".
The Christ Embassy founder was delivering a sermon on the message titled "Beware of Dogs" at his church monitored in a Facebook post by Affirmationtrain.
In concluding, he quoted from 1Thessalonians 5:13 and 14 "And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves". "And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone".
He explained the above stressing that, it connotes a military word meaning those who break ranks must be warned. He added if the Bible says, we should warn those who are unruly, then it means those who are deviating from the accepted or prescribed order.
"The Christian life has a prescribed order and you can't just go to church anyhow you like and to wherever you choose" he ended.
