Your action is the beginning of extremism - Islamic Scholar to Methodist Church

Today, Thursday 13th May, 2021, marks this year's Eid-ul-Fitr. Media General and TV3 used the opportunity to debate about issues that affect the coexistence of Muslims and Christians in the country on their morning show, NEWDAY.

The Islamic Scholar on the show was only introduced by host of the programme, Johnny Hughes as Sheikh Kamal.

Sheikh Kamal condemned the recent barring of Muslims students in Wesley Girls Senior High from Fasting. He claimed that the actions of Wesley Girls Senior High and the Methodist Church are the beginning of extremism.

"This action by the Methodist Church and Wesley Girls Senior High is the beginning of extremism. It must be stopped, if not it could plunge this country into chaos", he said.

He further stated that preventing a muslim from Fasting means that, the person has been stopped from being a muslim. " I have schooled in four Universities across the world. I have never come across Muslims being prevented from Fastin, not even at Oxford University. Fasting is entrenched in the Holy Quran".

He concluded by saying that Allah sent many messengers who came with a form of worship not religion. "lslamic teachings say Allah sent about one hundred twenty-four thousand (124 000) prophets, including Jesus, Abraham, Moses and others. Non came with religion but a form of worship. Jesus did come with Christianity. However, it was branded and boxed after him. No Muslim is complete without believing in Jesus".
