The disagreements emerged after one of the Nahdah Islamic Institute decided to observed the Eid Prayers on Tuesday instead of Wednesday as Majority of the people in Tamale did.
During the Eid Prayers by the Nahdah Islamic Institute, the Imam is reported to have indicated that, all those who did not pray on that day are ignorant.
This alledged comments angered some members of the Ambariya Sunni Community who expressed their anger over the comments.
Two days after the Eid Prayers, the Imam who led the prayers at Nahdah Islamic Institute reportedly received some death threats from people suspected to belong to the Ambariya Sunni Community.
The matter was reported to the Police who invited some members of the Ambariya Sunni Community for questioning.
The invitation by Police did not go down well with members of the Ambariya Sunni Community who stormed the Lamashegu Police station to call for the release of the suspects.
Yesterday at the Police station, tensions were high as the groups besieged the Police station.
