Ghanaians Must Re-Introduce Schooling Under Trees To Curb COVID-19 Spread-Min.Designate

The Minister-Designate of Environment, Science,Technology and Innovation , Dr.Kweku Afriyie said when parliament was in section that he believes the re-introduction of schools under stress will curb the alarming spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The active case of the virus, has surged from a little over 1,000 cases two weeks ago to 5,358 cases as at Friday January 29th,2021.This occurred as a result of the reopening of schools for the various academic levels while observing the COVID-19 protocols nonetheless.

Some schools like Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ),has closed down because two of its staffs have contacted the virus.

Research has revealed that it is better to have classes at open air spaces than in classrooms. The Sefwi Wiaso legislator therefore suggested that classes should be conducted under trees.

"I am suggesting that as far as possible, classes should be organized under trees now because the body of empirical evidence suggests that when you stay under non enclosed spaces you don't get infected and that knowledge must be put to good use",he said.
