However, science and research shows that getting intimate regularly can result in certain health benefits, including improved immune system function, reduced blood pressure, lower stress levels, and lessen your risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Regular intimacy improves the immune system and prepares the body to fight off illness by releasing endorphins. This means that abstaining from intimacy for a long time often result in more frequent illnesses, like the cold or flu. A study by Oxford and Coventry universities reported that saliva samples of college students who had regular intimacy were found to have a higher concentration of certain antibodies called immunoglobulin A, which fight the common cold.

In males, prostate health can benefit from frequent intimacy. Research shows that intimacy lessen the risk of prostate cancer in men by lowering stress and regulating the metabolism of cells. Recent studies found that men who had intimacy at least 21 times per month had a lower risk of prostate cancer compared with those who did 4–7 times per month.

Also, if you do not get intimate for a long time, you are at a higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease. According to experts from Healthline, intimacy helps keep your estrogen and progesterone levels in balance, which lowers your risk of heart disease. So if you are abstaining from intimacy, then do well to engage in physical exercise to boost your cardiovascular system.
