According to Lulu, all she wants is to become an academician. However, her parents have been reminding her at every opportunity that she needs to get married. You know how African parents start panicking when their daughters clock 30 and have no husband yet.
But marriage is the last thing on her mind as she studies a masters in creative writing at the prestigious university.
So, in a bid to get her parents off her back, she decided to stage a mock wedding and sent formal invites out to her nearest and dearest. According to her, it cost her just £2 to organize the whole occasion.
She hired a dress, walked through the venue to the traditional wedding march and even gave a speech to her guests explaining the lack of a groom.
Lulu's father had prepared her wedding speech when she was sixteen years old. On her birthday, her mother would say a prayer for her and beg God to provide her a decent husband.
No matter how much success she had in life, her parents were only concerned with the day she would find love and be married.
Lulu exchanged vows with herself in front of about 30 guests on the day of her wedding, with one of her friends playing the part of vicar.
Her buddy, who is a web designer, printed her invitations, and another friend paid for her outfit and cake, which were all made by her brother.
