My name is Abena Boamah 27 years old woman from Asuafu, Nsuta in the Ashanti region. I was born and raised in the same place. I am currently a trained nurse by profession. I am working at the sekeyere central district.
Now I am planning on getting married but this is what my parents are saying after I introduced my boyfriend to them.
I have been with my boyfriend for almost two years. In the beginning, I didn’t introduce him to my parents because I wanted to be sure he is ready for me and am also ready for him.
At the beginning of this year, I introduce him to my parents because we were planning on fixing a date for our marriage. Customarily, I have to take him to the house to see my parents as he has done it already.
After we met my parent's things turn upside down, my parents spoke with me in private and said they can’t accept him as their son-in-law. They told him, they will think about it. It has taken two months and my parents are not ready to accept my decision on getting married to the person I love. Though my heart is broken by what my parents are doing but I can't let him go.
The question is? I can’t leave this man because he has shown me true love and he made me understand no matter what he will always stand by me. He sponsored me in my education and I can’t pay it back by hurting him but my parents are insisting I should leave him because of his height.
Now I need all your opinion, what I should do for my parents to agree with my decision, since they are my parents and I don’t want to disobey them.
