Kwabena Jumah And Edwina Akufo-Addo In An Arranged Marriage?

The president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, last Saturday October 9, 2021, gave his 36 year old daughter's hand in marriage to Kwabena Jumah son of Maxwell Kofi Jumah who is also 46 with two children in the UK. The circumstances leading to this marriage is what many are touting to be an arranged marriage.

So we put our ears on the the ground to verify if trully, the two were set up to meet and fall in love or they coincidentally saw each other and genuinely liked each other without any family or external influence.

What is an arranged marriage by the way. Let's find out from www.brides.com what an arranged marriage is to be able to come to a fair conclusion.

According to www.brides.com an arranged marriage is "a marital union planned by the families, typically parents, of the couple".

It is believed that marriages that are arranged have lower divorce rates. So I ask are the lower divorce rates a sign that arranged marriages work?

Well some school of thought postulate that before two people are put together on match making, families would have done the necessary work to ensure that the parties are compatible with each other.

Some people also argue that the people in arranged marriages are less likely to file for a divorce even if they are not being treated well enough.

Again they argue that the necessary information on the person's character would have also been acertained to ensure that unlike poles would not repel. The families involved would have also known and liked one another. These checks after they are done and dusted they claim would put the two parties in a light that would ensure easy and fast connection.

Modern Arranged Marriages are different due to the influence of technology. We tend to think that in arranged marriages couples show up at their ceremonies to meet their spouse for the first time.

Today, arranged marriages place emphasis on free will. Even though the family influence is still key, there is more negotiations involved between the two parties and families. The parties are expected to have an opinion.

That haven been said, we are gathering that the two parties thus Edwina Nana Dokua Akufo-Addo, third Daughter of The President of the Republic of Ghana, and Kwabena Jumah son of Maxwell Kofi Jumah, GIHOC boss, met at a political function of which Kwabena's family and Edwina's family were in attendance. At this point, I leave you the reader to put two and two together to arrive at your own conclusions. We wish the couple all the best in their new home and we hope to see babies soon.
