The Importance of Love

Often we invest the vast majority of our energy catering for our physical needs. We ensure our bodies are taken care of, clothed, cleaned, exercised and rested. We also prioritize our intellectual stimulation and entertainment. However we usually overlook our most important need — love.

Obviously, as a general public, love isn't disregarded. Mainstream media continually puts great emphasis on what we need to do and how we should hope to draw in "love". In any case, being adored isn't as incredible a psychological condition as that yearning to love another person.

The need to love and care for others is a natural inbuilt emotion. This need is the thing that permits guardians to do without rest, food, and mental stability while bringing up their children. This need is the thing that permits individuals to put themselves in danger to save others from catastrophic events and human dangers. This need is the thing that makes our society work on both a little and a large scale.

Loving others permits us to put their necessities and wants before our own. We will work longer and harder, even at jobs we hate, all to cater for those we love. We will endure hardships and painful conditions to give care to our friends and family - youthful or old.

Love intends to appreciate, hold dear, and treasure. We don't do any harm, mischief, or cause torment to those we love; rather, we look to soothe their torment. It isn't about wanting a person; it's about wanting that person to be happy. It's not tied in with needing to have or control others; it's tied in with needing to liberate them.

John Oxenham depicted it this way: "Love ever gives. Forgives, outlives. And ever stands with open hands. And while it lives, it gives. For this are love’s prerogatives – to give, and give, and give."

Love is the oil that permits the wheel of life to keep turning. For when we love we look past ourselves, past our needs; past our wants. We forgo our time, our energy, our desires, and once in a while even ourselves on account of this love. Sometimes it is for a prompt individual or gathering that we know personally and love totally, yet under different circumstances it is for a bigger gathering of individuals that we don't actually have a clue or maybe even like. It is because of love that police and health personnel are willing to confront risk. Love makes heroes each day in every corner of the world.

As Thomas Kempis said: "Love feels no burden, thinks nothing of trouble, attempts what is above its strength… It is therefore able to undertake all things, and it completes many things and warrants them to take effect, where he who does not love would faint and lie down."

A ultimate meaning of love isn't tied in with feeling good but instead about doing good. A perfect illustration of love in real life is Jesus Christ who through his life here on earth worked hard for the sake of others.

Love is significant in light of the fact that without it, life has no importance or reason. As Frank Tebbets says "A life without love in it is like a heap of ashes upon a deserted hearth, with the fire dead, the laughter stilled and the light extinguished." Love permits us to be more and accomplish beyond what we might achieve without its power.
