If You Take This Money We Will ‘Punish’ Your Husband – Captain Smart Speaks Again

It’s a brand new week and many of the issues of the previous week are still trending. Dominant of them is the issue of payment to be made to the spouses of the First and Second Gentleman of the land. Many have taken the issue to the Courts for better interpretation. Others have also called the spouses to come out and decline the monies so that the confusion will come to an end.

Captain Smart has started another devastating attack on this issue. Today, Monday, July 12, 2021 on ‘Onua Maakye’, he challeneged the leaders of the country to be wise and do what is right instead of apportioning national resources to themselves.

“The leaders of Ghana do not respect us the citizens. Today I will mark Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Samira Bawumia. My word of caution goes to Samira Bawumia. Rebecca Akufo-Addo will leave office in 2024 with her husband. She can take that bloody money and go but for you you cannot take the money. Refuse this bloody money because if you do Ghanaians will punish your husband. Our leaders have failed us” Captain explained.

Captain Smart was obviously referring to 2014. President Akufo-Addo is in his second term and will not return after 2024 but Dr. Bawumia, the Vice President has plans of contesting as flagbearer for the ruling NPP in 2024. According to Captain Smart if Samira accepts to receive this money, Ghanaians will have no choice but to vote against her husband.

This might be Captain Smart’s own opinion but it can as well represent the views of many Ghanaians who feel let down by the government. Many feel in a time of economic hardships the country still feels It is right to give whopping salaries to spouses of the President and Vice President, purchase cars for MPs, pay huge sums to members of the Council of State and increase the salaries of the President, Vice President and members of the Judiciary.
