Clean your frontage, charity begins at home- Jonny Hughes sends a bold massage to Henry Quartey

Johnny Hughes has sent a bold message to the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr. Henry Quartey over the latter's operation 'clean your frontage' initiative which is aimed at improving the sanitary conditions of the capital.

Jonny Hughes disclosed on his Jonnies' bite show on TV3 ( today, January 31) that charity begins at home and as such, the Regional Minister must ensure vantage places within the city are kept clean. He alluded to a video he reportedly took of Circle, one of the busiest places and business hubs of the capital in which a pile of rubbish could be seen left uncollected. To him, though he agrees the citizenry has a pivotal role to play in ensuring a clean and tidy city, the state must be seen leading the charge for improved sanitary conditions in the capital.

Jonny Hughes further noted that it will be unfair for the ordinary Ghanaian to be charged for court for bleaching the 'operation clean your frontage' directive, meanwhile, areas within the city, which he described as "frontage of the state" are engulfed in filth.

"This is your frontage Mr. Henry Quartey, this is the Kwame Nkrumah Circle. I have been talking about this for a very, very long time but you have been turning a very deaf ear to it. This is your frontage, 'bola', people sleeping under the bridge, everywhere is smelling and you are going around saying you want to go to people's homes. Clean your frontage, charity begins at home. Tell him I said he should clean his frontage. I like him, I like what he doing, am not attacking him, am talking about the issues", he said.

The 'operation clean your frontage' initiative was launched by the government for the Greater Accra Region. Some 3,500 people are expected to be deployed to enforce various enforce sanitation bye-laws within the region. The initiative which is in line with the president's vision of making Accra the cleanest city in Africa, will among other things, ensure households and corporate organizations are obligated for the cleaning and greening of their surroundings.
