The Ghana Police Service has placed a Ghc20,000 bounty on the armed robbers who attacked and bolted with money from a bullion van and in the process gruesomely murdering the police officer who was providing protection for the car and the money, General Constable Emmanuel Osei and a bystander who was caught in the crossfire.
The incident, which took place at James Town in Accra got people really worried considering the courage and brazen manner with which the robbers committed this heinous crime. So daring and brave were these criminals that they went about this crime without covering their face, as if to send a message across to the fear-gripped onlookers that nothing can be done to them.
The imposition of the bounty on the heads of these criminals was disclosed by the Director of Public Affairs of Police, Supt. Sheilla Kessie Abayie-Buckman.
It is hoped that something positive comes out of this strategy. These hoodlums should not get away with this brute wickedness. In the meantime, the IGP has paid a visit to the family of the late officer to commiserate with them.
