There have been some strong calls by some concerned Ghanaians to ensure that the Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery will resign after the serious explosion that occurred at Bogoso-Appiatse.

This is because the Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery sent a warning to a world-class explosives manufacturer and technical services providers by the name MAXAM, which operates in the Western Region of Ghana precisely Tarkwa. He told the company in October 2017, to find proper solutions to their shortcomings within its operations in eight weeks.

However, they think the Minister failed in his evaluation responsibilities to ensure the company abides by his directives in 2017 to ensure the safe transportation of mining explosives and so that resulted in the huge explosion at Appiatse caused by mining explosives.

One of the people who has recently called on the Interior Minister to resign is a private legal practitioner, Nii Kpakpo Samoa Addo. While speaking to Asaase Radio on Saturday Morning, Mr. Addo asked the Interior Minister to resign or if he fails to do so, the President should sack him from office.

“The minister of interior issued a warning to the company two years ago to suspend work for the unsafe manner in which they were transporting explosives to be investigated. Tell me why he should still be at post.

“As for the Minister of Interior, he should resign. If he doesn’t resign the President should use him as the first sacrificial lamb. That minister does not deserve to be at post. If you look at the law on how the explosives are supposed to be transported, the Minister of Mines is someway culpable,” Nii Kpakpo Samoa stated on Asaase Radio this morning.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources released a statement which indicated that the registration of the said company, Maxam Company Limited has been suspended.

The Chief Inspector of Mines, Obiri Yeboah Twumasi was also interdicted in the said press statement by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.

Do you agree that the Interior Minister should resign like people are calling for??

Why should we always blame our leaders for anything that happens in the country?
