Two young women met their untimely death at Agona Swedru yesterday in the morning as a truck carrying pure water run over them killing them at the spot.
Edna Etison, 18 and Issah Wasila 25 were said to be buying fried yam by the roadside at Agona Swedru at the time of the incident. According to eye witnesses who spoke to Daily Graphic intercepted by CitizenOne, the driver of the truck with registration number GE 5530 - 19 lost control of the vehicle as he was negotiating a sharp curve and steep slope.
The seller of the fried yam saw the truck from afar and run for her dear life. Unfortunately the two buyers couldn't do same because their backs were facing the truck. They were dragged by the vehicle for sometime before crushing into a parked taxi. Their ladies were trapped under the vehicle.It took the intervention of officers of the Ghana Police Service to retrieve the bodies of the two ladies from the vehicle.
Confirming this to the media, Chief Inspector Mahama Iddrisu, Station Officer for Swedru Divisional Unit of Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) said the driver failed breaks resulting to the accident. The dismembered bodies of the deceased had been deposited to Swedru Government Hospital mogue pending further investigation.
The driver and four occupants of the truck sustained various degrees of injuries and were receiving treatment at the said hospital.
