Reckless driving is one of the most common causes of fatal car accidents in Ghana.
They may intentionally break rules and violate traffic laws without any regard as to whether they endanger the lives of others. Recklessness goes beyond simple negligence.
As a driver, you can only control the decisions that you make. Unfortunately, you don’t have the ability to control what other drivers are doing. For this reason, you could be involved in an accident even when you’re paying attention and following every rule of the road.
One of your primary concerns should be reckless driving. This comes into play when another driver acts in a reckless manner, often leading to a serious accident.
A video of a reckless truck driver violating the traffic rules by overtaking on a yellow truck is trending online, making people react.
In the video, a white truck is seen overtaking from a sharp corner pushing an oncoming truck off the road so as not to cause an accident.
Luckily, the driver from the oncoming truck was sharp enough to make a move on time, and that is how they escaped an accident.
As you can see, all of these acts of reckless driving are extremely dangerous. Imagine this scenario: You’re driving down the highway and somebody passes you on the shoulder. This can have serious consequences, such as causing a multi-vehicle accident.
As a driver, you always do your best to keep an eye out for others who are not obeying the rules of the road or those who are making questionable decisions. Even so, this doesn’t guarantee your safety.
If you’re involved in an accident with somebody who was driving in a reckless manner, it’s important to contact the police.
A driver under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is more prone to reckless driving behaviors than others. These substances can impair a driver’s ability to make safe judgment calls. They can also release inhibitions and boost confidence, often leading to reckless driving behaviors such as speeding, racing, running red lights and driving the wrong way.
