Kidnapping

I was never kidnapped nor pregnant, Josephine confesses

Friday, 24th September 2021

It is emerging that the alleged kidnapping of a pregnant woman in Takoradi was a haux after all. A statement from the Police administration has it that the woman in the centre of the controversy Mrs. Josephine Mensah has confessed to the Police that she was never pregnant.

According to the statement which was posted on the Ghana Police Service Facebook wall few minutes ago, the woman made this confession during police interrogation at the Effia-Nkwanta hospital where she was receiving treatment today.

The statement added that the alleged kidnapping was also false. However, it didn't state why the woman vanished from the scene for ten days only to reappear on day 11. The police have assured the public it was still probing the matter and will update the public in due course.

In other media outlets, it has been reported that, Jospehine's husband was sad, angry and disappointed at the same time. He had hoped that her wife was going to give him a baby boy only to be put in such a mess. The woman is reported to had denied the husband sex for some months because she was afraid she could lose her baby. But the innocent man endured because he was expecting a baby.

Earlier, the administrator for Effia-Nkwanta hospital denied releasing any medical report on Josephine to anyone including the police as earlier reported. The hospital insisted it will only do that on Monday. Meanwhile the police were preparing to file a case against Josephine, her husband and two others by Tuesday.

It will be recalled that Josephine Panyin Mensah, 'a nine month pregnant' woman reportedly went missing from Takoradi a fortnight ago. On Tuesday, she reappeared without the pregnancy from nowhere with strange stories. She allegedly told people she was kidnapped for ritual purposes but was later released because she was a twin.

There have been conflicting accounts to her disappearance and reappearance till date.
