Dampare Is Finally The IGP. Akuffo Addo Swears In Dr. Akuffo Dampare as IGP

President Nana Akufo-Addo has sworn into office Dr George Akuffo Dampare as the substantive Inspector-General of Police (IGP). 

This event took place in the Jublee house. It was short and beautiful ceremony, on Friday 8 November 2021. High reputable personalities were present including the Vice President Bawumia and other leaders of the Ghana Police Service.

When His Excellency the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo Dankwa was speaking He encouraged the newly crowned IGP Dampare to do everything that will win the confidence of the public. Dampare also assured Akuffo Addo that this will be one of the best Police Service in Africa, also He thanked the President for giving Him the chance to serve His nation up to this capacity.

COP Dr Dampare was appointed as Acting IGP effective from August 1, 2021, to replace James Oppong-Boanuh who was due for retirement. Dr Dampare is now the 23rd IGP of the country and the youngest since independence. The 51-year-old, until this appointment, was the Director-General in charge of Administration at the Ghana Police Service.

 Dampare has been working with the Ghana Police for almost 30 years and has risen from constable to IGP. The President showed gratitude to Him for the good work done so far since He was appointed as the acting IGP.
