The occurrence of road accidents is doing us more harm. We must act now to end the loss of lives on our roads. Another gory accident today at Sankore in the Ahafo region has reportedly claimed at least 7 lives. According to reports, a truck veered off the road and crashed into a taxi. There were 4 people on board the taxi and 3 on the truck.
According to Romeo Mensah, a police officer who was speaking to Citi News, they have commenced investigations into the crash. The bodies have also been conveyed to the morgue. He also said it was difficult identifying the bodies because of the way they were crushed.
Interestingly, fire officers who were called in to help also got involved in an accident. The fire tender crashed into another truck on the way to the accident scene. Fortunately for them, they didn't lose anybody. They had 4 casualties that are currently receiving treatment. It is a sad day for us as a country when this kind of accident keeps taking precious lives away from us.
Let us also do our part as road users. We must endeavour to ensure that our vehicles are always in good condition. Our safety is in our own hands.
