Everything Ghana Police Does is IGP: Dr Dampare Must be Careful Because Some Ghanaians are Hypocrites

Today, even my one and half-year-old niece knows Dr Dampare George is the new IGP because his name is always mentioned lately. Even as acting IGP, Dr Dampare rose to fame when he started joining heavy traffic queues, he refused to use a loud siren to bully his way through. He won the hearts of many. Again, the Ghana police mustered the courage to arrest Rev. Owusu Bempah and his junior pastors, Ghanaians couldn’t resist their joy from manifesting. They called the IGP’s name and exalted him.

Today, Shatta Wale has been remanded by an Accra circuit court for causing fear and panic after he faked his death for some hours on social media. The dancehall musician was probably using it for clouts until it got messy and escalated. He was pronounced wanted by the Ghana Police after they failed to locate him at his residence. Later, Shatta Wale turned himself in and he was arraigned before court. Today, he is serving his one week remand at the police custody. Subsequently, Medikal has also been arrested for brandishing a weapon on social media somewhere on 21st September 2021. An action that violates the 1960 Act 29 Criminal Codes of Ghana. He has been arrested and the fame goes to the IGP again.

I do not wish to give the impression that he is not working or he does not deserve some praise; that is not my point. However, he should know the kinds of people Ghanaians are, they will high you today and low you tomorrow. A minor mistake by Ghana Police and the IGP will suffer insults and condemnation. I was listening to Twene Jonas today and he was saying the IGP deserves some good treat. He promised to offer him some ladies to have fun with anytime he visits the United States of America. This same Twene Jonas will have the convenience to insult him anytime things go south about the service.

He should take inspiration from Asamoah Gyan, Agya Koo, Lil Win, Sarkodie and many other politicians. Some Ghanaians are severely hypocritical, they only sought to make you appear comfortable only to break you absolutely. With no respect and honour. So, as there is a grace period today, the IGP can enjoy and have all the laughter. But when the grass period comes, he shouldn’t be perplexed or confused, for there is time for everything and bad can easily go worst.

I will use this occasion to congratulate him on his appointment. As Ghana’s first IGP with a Doctorate degree, I expect nothing less but more innovation, operationalized system and integrity in Ghana Police.
