Angel TV on their 6pm news confirmed that a fire outbreak has occurred at Bekwai in the Ashanti region. The fire which swept through multiple rooms of the building destroyed many properties. According to the assembly member of the area who spoke with Angel Tv, he was informed about an outbreak of fire and he quickly rushed to the Fire Service outfit to inform them.
Upon arrival, he was told the fire tender has developed mechanical fault, hence he should contact the Fomena fire station to assist in extinguishing the fire. He however pleaded with authorities to re-equip the fire department in the district. The occupant of the building narrated how it all transpired.
She indicated that earlier in the day, the current was fluctuating and she switched off all her electrical gadgets before leaving for the market. Information later got to her that her house was on fire. A huge sum of money which she claim was in the room got burnt. Thousands of properties estimated beyond Ghc40,000 are all destroyed.
The fire commander of Bekwai advised the general public to be circumspect and switch off their electrical gadgets when going out.
