The police administration has announced cash reward of Ghs10,000 for information that would lead to the arrest of the bully boys, who attacked the Ada Radio station, roughed up a presenter and damaged on-air equipment.
A crack team of investigators and intelligence officers have been dispatched from the national police headquarters to assist the Ada Divisional Command to track down and arrest the thugs.
A statement issued by the police called for the staff and management of the radio station and the people of Big Ada to remain calm.
It reads in part; “A team of investigators and intelligence officers from the national and regional headquarters are currently supporting the Ada Divisional Command to investigate the incident and get those involved arrested and prosecuted for this barbaric act.”
The Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has urged the police to go to every length to arrest the bully boys who raided a radio station.
He has described the attack as totally unacceptable and says it should not go unpunished “There is no justification for a group of people to physically attack a radio station and its staff for comments made on air.
If a party is aggrieved at media comments, there are legitimate and legal avenues for seeking redress.
Attacks of this nature are, however, totally unacceptable and the perpetrators must be identified, and action taken in accordance with the law.”
Radio Ada has been forced to go off air following the invasion of its on-air studio by bully boys.
The thugs numbering about 10, are believed by the management of the radio station to have been hired by people, who are upset by the spotlight the station is putting on the Songor Lagoon.
They are alleged to have threatened that they are going to return to cause more harm and damage, if the station should continue with what they termed as the tasteless content on the Songor Lagoon.
