Summary Of The 2021 Population And Housing Census Provisional results.

Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) as of Today, Wednesday 22nd September 2021, has released provisional results from the 2021 Population and Housing Census (PHC)

Below is the summary of the 2021 population and housing census data collected.

1. Ghana’s population figure from the 2021 PHC data collected is 30.8 million people.

2. Females are the greater proportion of the population in the 2021 PHC with 50.7% of the population against males 49.3%.

3. The population of Ghana is growing at a declining rate compared with previous censuses.

4. The population growth rate is almost fivefold since the first post-independence census was conducted in 1960 which was 6.7 million.

5. Greater Accra is the most populous region. 

6. Ahafo region is the nation’s least populous region.

7. Average household size, which has been on the decline since 2000, is 3.6 members.

However, the results released are the provisional result of the 2021 population and housing census.
