S/R: North Gonja DCE Hands Over Office and Accommodation Facilities to Five State Institutions

Some State Department and Agencies in the North Gonja District of the Savanna Region which hitherto did not have office and accommodation facilities to enable the effective discharge of their mandate will now heave a sigh of relief as the challenge has now been resolved following the provision of such facilities. The beneficiary agencies and departments include the National Health Insurance Authority, the Department of Agriculture, Rural Enterprise Agency and the Ghana Police Service.

The initiative to provide the accommodation and office facilities for the agencies was spearheaded by the North Gonja District Assembly led by District Chief Executive, Hon. Adam Eliasu, in an effort aimed at empowering the organisations to carry out their duties effectively and efficiently.

At separate ceremonies to handover the facilities to the institutions, the DCE, said the North Gonja District under his tutelage prioritises the delivery of quality service to the people, hence the provision of the facilities to remove some of the bottlenecks that may militates against the mandate. Hon. Eliasu also encouraged the agencies to take proper care of the facilities to ensure they last longer and to be of good use to the people.

As part of the initiative, The Ghana Police Service were handed a two-bedroom house with ancillary facilities which is expected to be used as accommodation facility by the District Police Commander, one of the pre - requisite in the upgrading of the Daboya Police Post to a District Police station. The Rural Enterprise Agency on their part got a fully furnished state of the art office space while the Agriculture Department which used to operate from a makeshift structure also took delivery of a new office structure.

For a longtime, the people of the North Gonja travelled as far as Damongo, Tolon and Tamale to access Health Insurance Services because the NHIA did not have an office in the Daboya area. Full time operations is expected to start soon as the National Health Insurance Authority also were provided with a fully furnished office space.
