2 children drown in abandoned swimming pool, in kumasi

Two siblings under the age of four have allegedly drowned in the abandoned swimming pool, at Appiadu's new site in Kumasi.

Belinda idan is three years old and Olivia konadu idan is a year and eight months old.

The Father of the deceased kids is said to have awakened to find the lifeless bodies of his two girls floating in the swimming pool.

On October 6, 2021, Abadu idan, a steel bender, is said to have left the kids in the sitting room whilst he went to bed at about 8:30 am and woke up at midday, and could not find the kids.

A search team was called into the house which led to the discovery of the bodies of the kids floating in the abandoned swimming pool.

Mother of the children Agnes Pomaa had then left to visit a friend in Appiadu when the incident occurred. The Assemblyman of the Appiadu kokoben electoral area, Kenneth Owusu Bediako called at the Appiadu police station to report the incident.

A team of police officers dispatched to the scene of the crime found the bodies of the kids lying on the floor at a spot beside a swimming pool in the couple's home.

Preliminary investigations suggest there is no foul play since the bodies had no marks on them, But police say it is awaiting the autopsy report to be determined the true cause of death after the bodies were deposited at Komfo Anokye teaching hospital Kumasi.

Nhyirah FM's sources say police have since quizzed the parents of the children. Knust police commissioner superintendent Frederick Hammond confirmed the incident, stating that the case is still under investigation and parents should take good care of their wards.
