It was a disastrous and sad day for Ghanaians as the deadly gas explosion at Bogoso in Western Region has taken away many innocent lives. According to realiable sources, the tanker carrying the explosives to the mines engaged in an accident with a motorcycle and a third party car that caused the explosion. Information trickling in also has it that the driver issued a warning to the approaching residents to run for their lives before the explosion escalated.
Ghanaians continue to mourn the dead victims, while wishing speedy recovery to the people who have sustained various degree of injuries. As we communicate now, the Information Ministry confirms that over 76 persons have been found and sent to hospital with many in critical conditions.
Many leaders have reacted to the tragic incident and have responded to it in different ways. President Akuffo-Addo shared a message on his Twitter page to express his sadness over the incident. He has also instructed an emergency team to ensure that safety is assured in the community. Former President for Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has also shared a sad message about the incident and cheered on the emergency response team to work assiduously to support the affected community.
The Second Lady of the Republic, Her Excellency Samira Bawumia has also sent a sad statement to sympathise with the people in the Bogoso community. She has remarked that, yesterday, Thursday has become a terrific day in Ghana's history and she cannot get over it. She expressed how weak she has become over the incident, while mourning with the affected families and people of the town.
Samira Bawumia prayed for a speedy and divine recovery for the people who have sustained injuries from the incident. This message was captured in a Facebook post she shared after the incident.
