The shooting incident occurred early in the morning when neighbours heard gunshots in the neighbourhood by unknown assailants who disappeared after committing the heinous crime. Mr Oppong was lying in a pool of blood infront of his room with a severe wound in the chest when neighbours went to the crime scene. The mason lived as a tenant in that house.
The landlord upon hearing the gunshots and seeing his tenant lying dead in a pool of blood, reported the matter to the Kuntenase Police.
The Assembly man for the area, Honourable Paul Owusu was immediately informed of the incident. Mr Owusu rushed to the Police Station with the intention to report the case to the law enforcement agencies. He met the landlord of the deceased and the two of them together with the police went to the shooting scene.
The police took the lifeless body of Godfred Oppong to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
