The Dakpemah Chief of Tamale and 4 others are currently receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital after the Palace was attacked by unidentified gun men in the early hours of Monday 7th March 2022.
The Northern Regional Crime officer, Chief inspector Ananga confirmed the incident and indicated that, the Police have started investigations in to the matter.
According to the Regional Police crime officer, about 15 persons arrived at the Chief Palace this morning in a Toyota Hilux pickup and started shooting, which resulted in the injury of the Dakpemah Chief and 4 others.
Eventhough, the reason for the attack is not yet known, some have linked the attack to the recent disagreements between the Dakpemah Palace and the Gulkpenaa Palace.
The disagreements is as a result of who is the rightful Chief of Tamale.
The Police have indicated that, the incident will be treated as a crime for now.
Military and Police are currently patrolling the area.
