Road accident is an unfortunate event and most of the road users are well aware of the general rules and safety measures while using roads, but it is only the laxity on part of road users, which cause accidents and crashes. Majority of the accidents and crashes occur due to human errors. These accidents cause huge damage to physical and mental health of the persons involved.
I respect every driver who plies any of our major roads in this country especially commercial drivers who have to transport passengers in the night.
Our roads are very very dark in the night. No street lights on almost all our major highways and no wonder 80% of the accidents that have claimed precious lives happen in the night. Visibility is almost non existent.
You're on some 100kmph with no slight view of what's ahead in 100meters. And this on a single carriage road serving trucks from all across West Africa.
I'm not sure a lot of us do observe when travelling but there is no difference the jungle and driving on our highways in the night.
64 years of Ghana and even if we cannot expand the roads, lighting the roads for the safety of our people is also a challenge?
