A Young Man Recounts What His Boss Disclosed To Him After He Got Injured Whilst Working For Him

A young man by the name of Lawrence Kwame Mensah from Nfensi shares in an interview about what his boss told him after he got injured at his workplace. The man share that in the year 2019, he got a job at a sachet water factory. His boss named Mr Adu gave him the advice to work hard in order to get promoted. Lawrence said at first he used to go with the suppliers but as time goes on, he learnt how to use the machine used in processing the sachet water.

In November 2020, his boss asked him to come to work early in the morning so that he can help him to process more of the water. The man did as his boss ordered him, but the machine developed a fault whilst he was working with it. He tried to fix before he continued with his work but his hand got stuck whilst he was processing the sachet water.

It was his colleagues who struggled for more than an hour before they were able to remove the hand from the machine but his hand was severely injured. He was rushed to the nearest hospital at Ahensan but later transferred to Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment. Lawrence continued that, a specialist requested GHC2,500 before he can be treated.

His father then informed his boss about the bill but he only paid GHC1,300 for them ,after that he didn't see Mr Adu at the hospital till he was discharged. Lawrence said the boss came to the house to pay him a visit with some things and that was all. Mr. Adu didn't provide him with anything or gave him money to take care of himself again. The young man continued that his father went for a loan and he used that money to feed himself and also go for dressing on his hand. It got to a time that all his money got finished and was not able to go to the hospital for the dressing.

Unfortunately three of his fingers shed off because of the treatment he was not getting again. Lawrence went to his workplace to confront his boss about why he doesn't want to help him with his treatment but the boss told him that he can't continue taking care of him. The young man became worried about what Mr Adu told him because he thought the boss would help him to recover from the injuries, he too doesn't have anyone in his family who is willing to cater for him.
