Volta Region Police Anti-Robbery Squad Springs Into Action

The anti-robbery squad attached to the Volta Regional Police Command has sprung into action as it launches a targeted intelligence-led special operation to capture a gang of armed robbers, who have been terrorizing travelers on the Kpando-Dambai highway.

The bad guys have been attacking and robbing travelers and motorists of their cash and valuables.

Th police in a statement said they were closing in robbers who attacked a commercial vehicle in the early hours of yesterday, Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Kpando-Agbenoxoe.

“We know them, and we shall get them to face justice.”

The statement added that police officers across the region are on the high alert to tackle miscreants, who have chosen to live outside the law.

They would be ruthless with any violent criminals.

This comes amid the capture of nine suspected armed robbers, who carried out two separate robbery attacks at Wassa-Akropong and Mpohor in the Western Region, recovered from them some stolen items.

There is a massive manhunt to arrest two other suspects, who managed to slip through and are on the run.

One of the seized robbers sustained a gun-shot wound in the hand.

They had attacked their victims at Wassa-Akropong, the capital of the Wassa-Amenfi East Municipal and Mpohor, the capital of the Mpohor District on January 7 and January 8, 2022.

A statement issued by the police to confirm the arrest of the nine suspected violent criminals said they attacked their victims with locally manufactured pistols, cutlasses and dagger.

They seized from their victims a motorbike, mobile phones and cash of Ghs2,700 and fled.

The police gave their names as Philemon Essien, Godwin Boah, Evans Amarh, Mohammed Sumaila, Emmanuel Yaley, Patrick Aboah, Augustine Nana Abaka, Kwabena Acquah and Godfred Akwah.

Police officers recovered from them cash of Ghs2,200, a motorbike and an Opel taxi with registration number WR 3186 – 14.

The statement said two of the robber suspects got injured during their arrest and are on admission at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, receiving treatment and they are under police guard.
